>>There are several errors in the documentary and since I was directly involved with the expedition as a research facilitator and explorer, I feel ethically obligated to present the facts for what they are and make corrections when errors are made....<<

I hear climate change is killing off the natural predators of our beloved squids,
thus enableing them to reach their monstrous potential more often than ever before.

Off Cabo, marine scientists tagged a big Humboldt recently, and sent it down to the depths with a movie camera. While it was fascinating to see other humboldts checking out the camera(feeling it with tentacles, nipping at it with beaks)-the camera caught sight of a monster at 1000 feet. After taking the film to experts(unassociated with the film) the beast in the background was measured, because the glow of its eye was supposedly(several meters) from the tentacles, which were over a foot around. The math then done put this "thing" at over 100 feet long.
An archituthus was feeding on the smaller squid. So between that and the Japanese off the Bonins a year ago, we're getting the first real pics (And movies)of the giant squid ALIVE.
