Re: cephalopod houdini
Sun, December 10, 2006 - 5:28 PMIt makes me really sad, however, that one of the linked videos on the right-hand side of the screen is titled, "Eating Live Octopus!" -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 9:28 AMI saw a TV show with someone eating a live octopus. It was the most surreal thing. -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 10:58 AMVicious, was it a show called "Taboo" on the National Geographic channel? I think I saw a snippet of that, too, but I had to change the station when I realized what I was about to see. -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 12:16 PMThe show was a few years ago. It was about a couple of people who would go to different parts of the world and experience local culture. Some guy brought out a bowl of octopuses and ate one. The guy in the show had one, right after. -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 12:35 PMew. i really, really, really wanted to believe that no one could actually have the gall to cut up such a fantabulous creature while it was still ALIVE, for fuck's sake...and then eat it...it couldn't be true.
but i should know better than to bury my head in the sand.

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 12:21 PMI was watching Iron Chef and they brought out some eels and started slicing them up live and i started sobbing. I felt so emo. I probably would have made it even less far if it were live octopus, cultural delicacy or not. -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 12:25 PMthey had live octopus death on iron chef as well. -

Re: cephalopod houdini
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 1:31 PMI saw that episode. One of the octopi got wise, and bailed outta the tank and started crawling across the floor of Iron Chef Stadium. They actually refused to use it in their battle, as it may have become dirty, or maybe it's intelligence made them sushi chefs squeamish.
Yeah, and if you believe that, I know a yakuza who moonlights in sensitivity training... -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

Tue, December 12, 2006 - 1:32 PMSpeaking of intelligence, please disregard the apostrophe in "it's intelligence".
Thanks.
